Show LEO D. WEIGHT INJURED IN AUTO MISHAP Leo Weight, 39, of this city, Is reported recovering slowly at the Utah Valley hospital following a traffic accident in which he suffered suf-fered a fractured arm, possible internal injuries, and severing of a little finger. The accident occurred on the highway near the north city limits lim-its of Springville, when a new Mercury car driven by Lee Woodward Wood-ward of Provo struck the rear end of the car in which Mr. Weight was riding, driven by Russen Bird, also of Springville. Marshals Roy Harrington and Frank Metcalf of Springville, and Deputy Sheriff Johnson of Provo, Pro-vo, estimated the speed of the Woodward machine at approximately approxi-mately eighty miles per hour. Others in the Woodward car were Lloyd Jackson and Glen Nielson of Provo, Elaine Hamilton Hamil-ton and Ruth Crosbie of Spanish Fork, and Pauline Nuttall of Salem. Their ages ranged from 18 to 20, and all sustained minor cuts and body bruises. The Bird car was traveling south towards Springville from the steel plant when it was struck three times in the rear end, progressing pro-gressing almost 120 feet before it was stopped. Both Mr. Bird and Mr. Weight were thrown from the car. Bird received body bruises and cuts. The Bird car was completely demolished de-molished and the damage on the new Mercury was estimated at approximately ap-proximately $50. |
