Show Springville National Art Exibitipn Attracts Crowds; Tours Scheduled S Quoting Glen Turner, speaker at the opening Art Program last Friday afternoon, "This year's ex-hiibt ex-hiibt shows promise of one of the best to date with an interesting variety and many strong representative paintings." Since the formal opening, many townspeople and hundreds from out of town have registered at the gallery indicating that the number of visitors will also compare favorably fa-vorably with the attendance at the National Exhibit of past years. The opening program featured in addition to a talk by Mr. Turner on what to look for in the current exhibit, interesting cartoon sketches sketch-es by Huston Wingate, art student. stu-dent. Music was furnished by the high school male quartet. Grant Clyde also of the faculty, gave a solo and a vocal duet was rendered render-ed by Ann Merie Fry and Joe Smith. An instrumental number was given by Ann Johnson, Merrill Johnson, Betty Hoover and David Dalton, with Alice Erickson at the piano. Monta Ford was accompanist accom-panist for other numbers. Introduction of art queens was a highlight of the afternoon. The art exhibit will remail open all through April from 9 ajj. to 9 p.m. including Saturday and Sunday. An indication of the reservation; already made for group visiting is seen in the following outline: On Thursday, today, visits art scheduled by the Hafen-Dallii Club, the Salem Literary Clul. the Pleasant Grove Mothers Study Club, the Thespians; Friday, the Home Culture Club, Provo Readers Read-ers Guild, Alpha Beta Club; Monday, Mon-day, the American Fork Literary Club, Nebo Camera Club; Wednesday, Wednes-day, the Salt Lake Literary Club, the Legion Auxiliary and Thursday, Thurs-day, the Kalon Club of Provo: In addition to these, hundreds ol individuals and other organizations organiza-tions who have not made reservation, reserva-tion, will tour the galleries durbf the next few days. It is truly a favorite fa-vorite meeting place for a majority of Utah state and county organia-tions organia-tions during the April art month. |
