Show YOUR VOTE OCT, 2 8... FOR A CAUSE When Springville taxpayers go to the polls next Thursday, Oct. 28, they will not be voting for individuals or amendments but for a cause. They will be voting for the other fellow and for themselves. They will be voting to give the governing body of Springville the power to borrow money to place the city on a more sanitary basis. A YES on the ballot will mean that the city will take over a $470,000 obligation obli-gation with a promise to pay back at low interest in a period of 12 years. In exchange for the money, we will get a modern disposal plant to take care of the sewage from the city and the extension ex-tension of the sewer system to all portions por-tions of the town where it presently is not installed. In other words, we will exchange a monetary obligation for an opportunity to advance, to improve, to maintain our place among modern cities in a modern civilization. Everyone not presently connected with the city sewer, will be required to do so. This will perhaps destroy some landscaping temporarily, and be rather inconvenient in some instances, but the price and inconvenience will be worth it if it keeps one youngster or an adult from contacting a germ bred in sewage deposits at our very back door, so to speak. City and health officials have made a long-time study of the proposed improvement im-provement project and of a plan to finance fi-nance it. They tell us that the anticipated antici-pated move is one which if not "taken voluntarily now, will be enforced at a later date and perhaps at a less opportune oppor-tune time. In the meantime, there is no telling what disease may strike, with sewage in the raw floating on waters a few blocks away. Sanitary measures will be of no avail to one city if others do not fall in line. Springville cannot afford to lag behind in this state-wide sewage cleanup clean-up campaign. , Calling for a vote of the people on the proposed sewage plant and sewage extension plan, is the only fair way to get the opinion of the people, but selfish sel-fish opposing forces have been known to cancel worthwhile projects, while its sponsors and friends lulled themselves into thinking a favorable vote was in the bag. ' . There will be three polling, places in the city. Take time off sometime during dur-ing the day to go to one and east your vote. You will then have the satisfaction satisfac-tion of knowing you did, in your opinion, opin-ion, what is the best for yourself and the town. |
