Show Warren P. Kirk Is RepubSican Nominee For Clerk Warren P. Kirk of Pleasant Grove announced Saturday that he will seek the Republican nomination nomina-tion for the office of Utah County Clerk. Mr. Kirk's backers declare his experience as chief deputy in the office for more than three years is the best qualification quali-fication for the position. As chief deputy he has become familiar with every phase of the activities in the county clerk's office. The present incumbent, Mr. Dixon, is not seeking seek-ing renomination to the clerk's office. of-fice. In addition to his experience in the office, Mr. Kirk is qualified by education and other training for the position, his supporters state. He attended college at both the University of Utah and the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University graduating from the latter. He then took a year of graduate work at the BYU. During the construction of the Geneva Steel plant, Mr. Kirk was chief clerk in the utilities department depart-ment for Utah-Pomeroy-Morrison, chief contractor for the Geneva project. He did further clerical work with the Geneva Steel company com-pany during wartime operation of the plant. Active in community affairs, Mr. Kirk is now in the presidency of the Timpanogos LDS stake MIA. For five years he was Timpanogas stake music director. Also as part of his church services, he filled an LDS mission in Germany from 1936 to 1939. Widely known as a tenor vocalist, vocal-ist, he has contributed his musical talent generously throughout the country. In dramatic circles he is also welll-known for the rolls he has played in the productions of the BYU Speech Department and the Provo Theatre Guild. The candidate is a lifetime resident resi-dent of Pleasant Grove, where he is a property owner and taxpayer. His wife is the former Winona Monson of Pleasant Grove. They have three children.
