Show Our Servicemen . . Karl R. Smith, .son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Smith of Olmatead, formerly of Springville, recently graduated from clerical and type school and has been transferred to Camp Pendleton, Calif., from San iJiego, for office work in the Mar- ine Corps. He has been in service since March. Taking part in the Atlantic Fleet's second anti-submarine exercises ex-ercises this year on board the submarine tender USS Fulton, is Lee A. Robertson, ship's serviceman service-man third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Robertson of 212 North Fourth East, Springville. The exercise is being held to test men and equipment and aid in maintaining the high standard of the Submarine Force's readiness policy. Taking part are conventional conven-tional fleet-type and specialized converted submarines and units from the fleet's "killer" forces. After spending the past seven months with UN naval units in Korea, the radar picket destroyer USS Duncan has returned to the United States. Serving aboard her is Jesse R. Barker, seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse W. Barker of 905 East Center St., Springville. While in the Far East the Duncan Dun-can operated with Task Force 77, unite of the Blockade and Escort Force and on Formosan Patrol duty. |
