Y. 15 YEAHS AGO Fat men of Springville have challenged the skinny men to a ball game Monday evening and the event promises to be interesting. The following line up is announced: Fat men Floyd Miner, Henry Weight, L. L. Baker, Emmett Bird, Ed Johnson, Clifford Crandall, Wayne Smith. M. F. Miner, Harrison Harri-son Conover, Bill Gogarty and Hilton Hil-ton Robertson. Gordon Weight, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weight, suffered a fractured leg while raking hay on Mapleton bench. Ernes't Weight, who has been in the LDS hospital for the past four weeks came home Thursday. His condition is somewhat improved. He was accompanied by his brother broth-er Arch and sister, Miss Nell Weight of Salt Lake. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Will Phillips Phil-lips and little son Billie and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harrington and family fam-ily motored to Provana Beach and had a picnic lunch. A poultry and pig clinic will be conducted at the Public Library Thursday, August 11. Dr. Grubb of Omaha, Nebr. will be the principal prin-cipal speaker. There will be no charge for the meeting and nothing noth-ing offered for sale. t All farmers are invited. . Another step in the onward march of the Columbia Steel Co. will be made soon when an addition is made to the plant by the Republic Re-public Creosoting Co., at a cost of $450,000. The new addition will necessitate the hiring of some 20 men. 20 YEARS AGO The long delayed paving of Main street will begin Monday, city officials of-ficials state. The pavement is to be laid in three strips. The east and west strips will extend from the pavement now in to the gutter, about 14 feet, while the center strip will fill the space between the two present strips of pavement. The light and heat for the county coun-ty jail the past six months have been paid for by the federal prisoners. pri-soners. Although Sheriff E. G. Durnell is allowed 25c per meal to feed the prisoners, he has succeeded succeed-ed in feeding them for 18c per meal and the extra 7 cents has paid fof the heat and lighting the jail.
