Show i City Softball Champ To Be Crowned Friday Night City Softball champion will be crowned following the title game scheduled for Friday night at 8 p.m. at the ball park between the Springville Jaycees and the National Guard teams. , As a climax to the summer play, the playoff is being staged between j the first half winner, Springville Jaycees and the second half winner, win-ner, the Guard club. The title game Friday will be the third meeting in the finals as both teams have won ono of the two contests. In their first game of the two-out two-out of throe series, National Guard bettered the Jaycees 13-11 last Thursday night. Gene Averett pitched for the Jaycees with Keith pitching for the National Guard. Verl Wiser for the Jaycees and Jimmy Thorn for the Guard club each banged out a nice home run to help their respective team's cause. Monday night the Jaycees discovered dis-covered a talented pitcher in Burton Bur-ton who kept the National Guard club hits at a minimum which contributed con-tributed to the lopsided 14-6 victory vic-tory by the Jaycees. Barker and Task or chucked for the losers. Following the championship battle bat-tle Friday night, director George Pehrson will present tho winning team with a lovely trophy for their season's efforts. There is no charge for the game. |
