Show Mr. and Mrs. Richard Conover of this city entertained at a nicely arranged turkey diner at their home Wednesday evening the occasion oc-casion being the birthday anniversary anniver-sary of Mrs. Conover's mother, Mrs. T. W. Dyches of Provo. An Ea.ster decorative scheme was carried car-ried out in table decorations with Easter baskets given as favors. Places were arranged for Mr. and Mrs. Dyches, Mr. anck Mrs. Ronald Ron-ald Dyches,' Mr. and Mrs. Ed T. Jones, Bill Jones and Bonnie Dyches of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Conover, Carol Conover and the hostess and host. An enjoyable bridge luncheon was given by Mrs. Sidney Karris at her home here Wednesday evening eve-ning for a number of friends. An attractive centerpiece of tulips was used on the dining table which was covered with a lovely lace. In attendance were Mrs. D. Vincent, Vin-cent, Mrs. Nyron Jones, Mrs. Hew-ett Hew-ett M. Strong, Mrs. Barney Chase, Mrs. Don Ferguson of Provo, Mrs. Leslie Larson of Spanish Fork and Mrs. Martin Merritt of Springville were guests. Mrs. Larson was awarded high score prize for the card games of the evening. Mrs. Lela Sumsion of thia city was elected 'secretary of the Uta"h Pioneers at a meeting held recently recent-ly in Provo. SOCIETY NWS Announcement la made of the marriage of Miss Thclma Mozcll Childa, daughter of Mrs. Cassie D. Childs of this city, to George Virl Mayne of American Fork, which took place at the home of the groom's parents last Tuesday evening eve-ning with Bishop T. A. Greenwood performing the ceremony. Of interest to friends here is the marriage of Courtland Price Starr Hon of Mrs. Jennie Starr of this city, to Phoehe Marie Peterson of Salt Lake City, which took place the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bird and children chil-dren spent last week end in Salt Lake City, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Lambert. Mr. and Mrs. Howard McCurdy of Salt Lake City visited the past week end with Mr. McCurcly's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McCurdy and family here. They also visited the art gallery. Camp Springville D. U. P. will hold their regular monthly meeting meet-ing on April 8, at the home of Mrs. Mart Crandall. Assisting hostesses are Mrs. Emma Hay-mond, Hay-mond, Mrs. Millie Sutherland, Mrs. Hilda Averett, Mrs. Mabel Kindred and Mrs. Lou Binks. All members are urged ta be present. Among the outstanding social events of the coming week is the joint meeting and luncheon of the Women's literary clubs scheduled for Friday, April 9, at the high school where Mrs. Mae Huntington Hunting-ton will talk on the pictures in the current exhibit. Preceding the talk luncheon will be served and a short program will also be given. The entertainment is being sponsored spon-sored by the Ladies Literary club with Mrs. Blanche Beal, Mrs. Ruby Christensen and Mrs. Rea Straw in charge. Nearly a hundred club members representing the Mothers Study, Home Culture, Alpha Beta, Jeune Mere and the Ladies' Literary Liter-ary club, are expected to be present. pres-ent. The Bee-Hive class of the First ward M. I. A. under the direction of Mrs. Luell Best, were, entertained entertain-ed at a party on Monday night, at the home of Wilna Brown. A variety of games were played and later luncheon was served to seventeen sev-enteen class members including Betty Blanchard, Helen Clegg, Mern Burreton, Emily Paxman, Lois Fullmer, Gladys Weight, Lillian Lil-lian Ostler, Martha Mason, Delia Carter, Leonore Billings, Theo Childs, Melva Witney, Venice Pennington. g after an enjoyable two months' visit with her daughter, Mrs. Wil-ford Wil-ford Olsen and family at Minneapolis, Minnea-polis, Minn. Mra. Palfreyman went to Minnesota because of the serious ser-ious illness of her daughter and grandchild who had influenza. Both have recovered nicely, she reported. Kennedy spent Saturday with relatives in Springville enroute to their home in Salina from a several days' busi- ) ' Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner of this city left Wednesday evening for an extended motor trip to southern Utah, Arizona and the west coast. Planning to be gone about one month they will spend some time at the St. George temple, and the Mesa, Arizona temple. In southern California, near the Imperial dam, they will visit Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Miner and will spend a short time with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Miner, near Las Vegas. They also will visit Mrs. Miner's sisters, Mrs. Emma Russell, Mrs. Jennie Whittacker and Miss Hilda Dalton at Berkeley, Calif. They plan to spend a week with Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Ol-iphant Ol-iphant at San Jose. Miss Marie Clegg entertained members of her club Monday night. A delicious hot supper was served early in the evening followed by cards. In attendance were Helen Rowland, Bernice Jensen, Kami Harmer, Margaret Piece, Naomi Sumsion, Afton "nnghurst, and , Wanda Stewart. . A large crowd of Seventies and Elders of Kolob stake and their partners attended a program and dance social at the Fourth ward hall, Wednesday. All enjoyed a fine sociable time. The conjoint art luncheon of the Ladies' Literary clubs of the city scheduled for Friday afternoon, after-noon, at the high school, has been I canceled and other art meetings will be arranged by the various groups. Members of the Firemen's auxiliary aux-iliary met Monday evening. The group first attended a meeting of the Utah County Mental Hygiene Hy-giene society at the high school and later assembled at the fire hall. Mrs. Lydia Palfreyman has returned re-turned to her home in this city Andrew F.- Riggs of Springville and Sally Scoggins of Henderson, Texas received a license to wed last week at the county court house in Provo. Members of the Jemie Mere club were delightfully entertained on Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Mabel Wright. Lunch was served early and. bridge followed, with prizes for the games being awarded to Mrs. Florence Allen and. Miss Ellen Wheeler, the latter being a guest..
