Show High School News Items By SYLVES BIKCH Of the various animals entered by Springville F. F. A. boys in the Junior Livestock show held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 9, 10,' and 11 at Spanish Fork, the beef animals were awarded second, third, fourth, seventh and eighth places in the stock judging. The ewes won first and second places; ewe and lamb won first place, and in the open class for sheep, Springville's entry was awarded third place. First and second prizes were given to the dairy heifers entered by the Springville boys, and Fred Diamond received the grand champion cham-pion award for his -heifer The girls who have been selected se-lected to represent our school in the B. Y. U. Invitational Track and Field Meet events next Friday Fri-day and Saturday, April 24 and 25, are: From the Senior high, 60. yard dash, Fern Jensen, Louise Evans and Ruby Van Patten, alternate; al-ternate; baseball throw for distance, dis-tance, Irene Jensen and Louise Evans; high jump, Loise Whiting and Louise Evans, Erma Harmer and Venice Whiting, alternates; 440 yard relay, Fern Jensen, Louise Lou-ise Evans, Ruby Van Patten, Ells Snow and Renee Crandall, alternate; alter-nate; From the Junior high, 50 yard dash, Fae Fullmer, Lenore Weight and Rae Gabbetas alternate; baseball throw for distance, Louise Lou-ise Johnson and Beulah Whiting; broad jump, Konda Riding and Emma Ullock; high jump, Louise Johnson, Konda Riding and alternates, alter-nates, Phyllis Boyer and Norma Gusten; 440 yard relay, Fae Fullmer, Full-mer, Rae Gabbetas, Donna Whiting Whit-ing Lenore Weight, Yvonne Childs, Francis Tuttle, Louise Johnson. Martha Pulley, Emma Ullock and Marian Witney. , The Ag boys who attended the San Francisco stock show re. turned Monday. April 13, after visiting all of -the points of interest inter-est in the city and enjoying the sights. The boys are: Earl Mendenhall, Men-denhall, Lemar Boyer, Clyde Miner, Lemar Miner, Carlos Hjorth and Reed Johnson. At the divisional Music Festival held in Spanish Fork, Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18, the Springville high school orchestra was rated Highly Superior, and the band Highly Superior m Marching and in playing. Soloists Solo-ists who won honors are: Beth Loveridge, French horn; Jay Robertson, Rob-ertson, cornet; Aileen Condie and Claudia Billings, violin solos; Vra Wheeler, Harley Whiting, Mart Peterson and Bernice Palfreyman, vocal solos; France Childs, flute; Bert Robertson, baritone; Kimball Sorenson, B flat bass, and Barbara Bar-bara Gudmundson, piano solo. |
