Show BLACK HAWK WAR VETERAN LAID TO REST Funeral se'rvices weiv conducted Wednesday afternoon in the Fourth ward chapel for James M. Pierce, 83, Black Hawk Indiam war veteran and pioneer resident of this city, who died Sunday following" fol-lowing" a lingering illness. Mr. Pierce was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa. September 22, lSfiO, a son of James M. and Mary A. Bowman Pierce. He came to Springville with his parents in 1853, and has lived here most of the time since. He has engaged in mining" enterprises until recent re-cent years. He met and married Mary E. DeWitt at Des Moines Iowa, November Nov-ember 18, 1909. Surviving are his widow and nine children, Mrs. Esta Singleton, Single-ton, Mrs. Pauline Singleton, Ivan and Paul Pierce, Springville; Mabel, Sarah, Charles, James and Fank Pierce, all by a fomer marriage, mar-riage, now living in California. He also leaves a brother Andrew pierce and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wood of Springville and Mrs. Laz-ette Laz-ette Dibble of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho. |
