Show SOCIETY NEVS cently to make their home in Duchesne for the summer. Elite club members will be entertained en-tertained Friday evening April 17, at the home of Mrs. Lawrence Clark. All are invited to be present pres-ent at S o'clock. Mrs. Carrie Tripp entertained members of the Ava Delma club at her home Wednesday night. Spring blossoms and Easter motifs mot-ifs added to the attractive entertaining enter-taining rooms. Following luncheon lunch-eon served early in the evening, progressive bridge was played. Prizes for the evening's games went to Mrs. Alice Ence, a guest and to Mrs. Norma Xoe, member. Other guests in eluded Mrs. Velma Roylance, Mrs. Olin Zabriskie of Provo, and Mrs. Coe Durrant. The next club meeting is scheduled for April 22, at the home of Mrs. Mary Fricl. consisting of vocal solos by Miss Hannah Rowland and piano selections selec-tions by Mrs. Mary Bird. Mrs. Huntington also continued her talk on art, reading a number of the essays written by students on their favorite picture in the exhibit ex-hibit last year. Nineteen members and guests attended. The next meeting will oe at the home of Mrs. E. T. Crandall, April 23. Mrs. P. J. Rencher of Arizona is visiting her niece. Mrs. J. M. Sumsion and family in this city. Mrs. Othell Bird entertained members of the Elite club at her home last Friday night. A dainty luncheon suggestive of Easter was served and the guests also enjoyed cards during the evening. Prizes for the latter were awarded to Mrs. Almeda Evans and Mrs. Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Frandsen. Special guests in addition to the members present were Mrs. Alice Ence and Mrs. Fawn Bjarnson. The Third ward Gatherers class under the direction of Mrs. Bell Sumsion and Mrs. Dona Snell Thursday night entertained the Beehive class with a dinner in the amusement had. The long tables ta-bles were pretty with centerpiece; of Easier baskets, bunnies and other motifs. Covers were laid for twenty-four members and guests. Toasts were given during the affair which was also concluded con-cluded with games and music. Members of the Busy Fingei club Thursday night were guests of Mrs. Lloyd Bird at her home Progressive cards were enjoyed and for the games Mrs. Olive Porter and iTs. Bill Hanson received re-ceived high score and the consolation conso-lation prizes respectively. Specia' guests at the party were Mrs. Eileen Ei-leen Bird, Mrs. Inez Parker, Mrs Bernice Hutchinson and Mis Christine Cregg. Members of the Loyally club will be entertained Friday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Mabel Simkins. All members are urged to be present at S o'clock. A large group of cnurcn workers work-ers went on the excursion to the Salt Lake temple on Friday. Mrs. Harry Piper and children of Salt Lake City spent the past week with Mrs. Piper's ' mother, Mr3. Joseph Bate and also her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Harry Pennington and family in this city. Mrs. Lucy Van Leuvan of this city has just returned from California Cali-fornia where she spent the winter with her son Perry Van Leuvan and wife. The Daughters of Pioneers Camp Springville Thursday afternoon after-noon featured a program in honor of Mrs. Martha Thom who observed ob-served her seventy-ninth birthday earlier in the month. A daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Mattie Palfreyman gave a short review of the life of the honor guest; a son, A.. G. Thorn paid tribute in a brief talk, to his mother as did also Mrs. A. G. Tliorn, Mrs. Ella Reynolds and several other D. U. P. members. Mrs, P. J. Rencher of Arizona also spoke briefly. Accordion selections selec-tions were given by Miss Louise Clyde during the program. Refreshments Re-freshments were served by Hostesses Host-esses Mrs. Emma Haymond, Mrs. Charles Averett, Mrs. Ella Crandall. Cran-dall. Mrs. Phoebe Singleton, Mrs. Mary Westwood and Mrs. Mabel Kindred. Members of the S. T. club were pleasantly entertained Thursday night at the home of Mrs. J. W. Grant. From small tables a delicious de-licious luncheon was served at 8 o'clock after which bridge was also enjoyed. Prize for high score was awarded to Mrs. Lewis Clegg. Eleven club members and Mrs. Arthur Finley attended as special guest. Mr. and Mrs. Velt Hancock and family of this city left re- Dennis Palfreyman of this city recently celebrated his seventy-fourth seventy-fourth birthday with a surprise party given by his children and their families at his home. The crowd enjoyed social chat and a delicious supper. In attendance with their families were Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Palfreyman, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Maycock, Mrs. Lou Maycock, Mis. Elva Palfreyman. Mr. and Mis. Fred Liddiard of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Will Palfreyman, Palfrey-man, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Palfreyman, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Volt Hancock, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Palfreyman. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Houtz were guests Thursday of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McCurdy in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Houtz - recenly came from California to visit their mother, Mrs. P. E. Houtz, who has been ill at her home in Provo. . Mrs. John Hardy and daughter spent Thursday in American Fork with relatives and friends. Camp Aaron Johnson D. U. P. will hold election of officers at their regular April meeting to be held Thursday, April 16, at Relic hall. A well arranged program also will be given. All members are asked to be present at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Rea Straw was hostess to members of the Ladies' Literary club at her home Wednesday evening. eve-ning. The group early in the evening met at the high school art gallery where Mrs. Mae Huntington Hunting-ton gave an especially interesting talk on the pictures in the exhibit.
