Show SOCIETY NEVS ive bridge, high score prize was won by Mrs. Carrie Tripp and the consolation by Mrs. Virginia Hark-er. Hark-er. An attractive and tasty luncheon lunch-eon was served at small tables to 12 club members and four guests Mrs. Jessie Beardall, Miss Anna Beardall, Miss Alice Huck-ins Huck-ins and Miss Ida Scott of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Parker of O. Howard and Mrs. Joseph Dcver-Helper Dcver-Helper were guests the past week end of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird and family. Mrs. Lydia Sumsion plans to leave this week to visit her daughter daugh-ter Nell and husband in California. Mrs. Anna H. Mcndenhall of this city entertained a group of lady friends from Salt Lake at her home Thursday. After luncheon, all attended the art exhibit at the high school. Included in the party were: Mrs. Quay R. Garvise, Mrs. H. S. Kerr, Mrs. O. S. McChane, Mrs. J. C. Thomas.Mrs. John Griffins, Grif-fins, Mrs. Logan Field and Mrs. Edward Clyde of this city. In honor of Oscar M. Mower of this city whose eighty-second birthday occurred last Wednesday, his children met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Kindred where they enjoyed a family social so-cial and luncheon in the evening. Horn in Lynn, Utah, April 25, 1852, Mr. Mower came here with his parents Henry and Lucretia Hupper Mower, in 1958. He has I lived here since. He was married 1 to Elizabeth Beardall on February 22, 1875 in the Endowment house in Salt Lake. His wife died in 1917. Mr. Mower has always been itctive in church and civic work and has held the position of city councilman, city mushal, constable and member of the school board, at various times in his life. He was a member of the Third ward bishopric bish-opric for 23 years, a Sunday school officer and teacher for 43 years and a Y. M .M. I. A. worker for 15 years. He also has filled a mission mis-sion in the southern states. Mr. Mower has spent about 10 year's working the Salt Lake temple. For the past four years, due to failing fail-ing health, he has resided with his children Mrs. Ella M. Cragun, Lin- i dun; Mrs. John R. Kindred and William M. Mower, Springville. Mrs. Richard Condic and twin daughters of Salt Lake visited last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Mendenhall and other relatives here. Mrs. Polly Day of Elmo, Utah who has spent the past several weeks with her sisters, Mrs. E. A. Bryan and Mrs. Alfred Weight returned to her home the past week. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. John Whiting. Members of the Ava Delma club were delightfully entertained Wednesday Wed-nesday night the home of Mrs. Naomi Beardall. During progress- The Busy Finger Sewing club were guests of Mrs. Josephine Duncan at her home Thursday afternoon. A dainty luncheon was served to Mrs. Olive Porter, Mrs. Doris Bird, Mrs. Marjorie Bird, Mrs. Stella Straw, Mrs. Velma Roylance, Mrs. LaVern Beardall, Mrs. Ann Johnson and Mrs. Olive Johnson, the latter being a guest. Complimenary to her husband whose birthday was last Friday Mrs. Lindsey Parker entertained a groups of friends at their home in the evening. Rook and other progressive games preceded a dainty luncheon. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cran-mer, Cran-mer, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Whiting, Mr. ajid Mrs. Andreasen, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird, Miss Helen Palfreyman, Rapheal Palfreyman, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Parker of Helper. Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Wood and Mrs. J. X. Gardner had as their Sunday guests Mrs. William D. Foster, Mrs. H. L. Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Woolsey and daughter daugh-ter Nan and son LaCelle, Misses Josephine and Betty Lou Sutton all of Salt Lake, Mrs. Marsh, and daughter Jeanne of Ogden, Mrs. Ida Smoot Dusenberry, and Mr. and Mrs. Terry and little daughter daugh-ter Ellen of Provo. The group enjoyed the pictures at the art gallery and returned to the Doug-all Doug-all home for luncheon. |
