Show Wheat Crop Forecast i WASHINGTON, April 12 U.P) The department of agriculture today to-day forecast a winter wheat crop 1 of 725,707,000 bushels in the first estimate of the year. The esti- I mate was on the basis of, condition condi-tion April 1. The department estimated yield I at 12.6 bushels per acre, indicating indicat-ing conditions somewhat above normal for approximately 49,900,-000 49,900,-000 acres estimated left for harvest har-vest on April 1. Last year wheat yield averaged 11.9 bushels per acre, estimated on April 1. Total production was (j85,ll)2,000 bushels on 46,046,000 j acres. The estimate today was based on reports made before the damaging dam-aging sleet storm of last week. The estimate of production was slightly higher than recent private pri-vate estimates of 717,000,000 bushels by Chicago grain experts. A lV-pound hailstone fell in Nebraska July 6, 1928. |
