L. and Theo Strong Thorpe, who was I killed in an automobile accident on North Mam street, Tuesday evening, will be held Friday at 2 p. m. in the First ward chapel Burial will be m the Evergreen cenetery under direction of Claud-in Claud-in funeral home. Miss Thorpe was struck to the ground by a car allegedly driven by C. D. Brown. 35, of South Main ; street. The accident occured about 9:15 p. m. Accompanied by Margaret Ewing 15, and two other companions, compan-ions, Reba Tutde and Lucille Jensen, the girls were on their way to Park Ro-She. The Ewing girl sustained a severely injured leg and painful body bruises in the accident. The other girls escaped uninjuried. The driver of the death car failed to stop after the accident, City Marshall Melvin Cherrington, Heber Livingston and Sheriff E. G. Durnell who investigated investi-gated the accident. Brown It was reported, went to Jack's Service station a short distance dis-tance from the accident and said he had run into some one. He then returned to the scene of the accident and asked for Marshall i Livingston, upon being informed that Marshall Livingston was looking for the driver he left and returned again. Mr. Livingston was still way. Brown then went home nd sent a brother-in-lavi to inform the city marshal! that he was the driver of the car. . Brown was arrested at his home by Marshall Livingston at 11:30 p. m. He stated that a truck coming in the opposite direction obstructed his view. He was lodged in the city jail pending formal charges to be preferred against him. Miss Thorpe was a student nt the junior high school. She took an active part in social, religious and scholastic affairs of the younger set, in this community. She was born in Springville, April 20, 1019 and has lived here alway.s Surviving, besides her parent.1, are three brothers, Russell, Morris Mor-ris and Shirley Thorpe, Springville; Spring-ville; also the grandparents Willis E. Strong and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Thorpe of Springville. |
