Show High School News Items BY HELEN KELSEY Sara Marie Binks won second place in the girls' dramatic reading read-ing finals, and Erma Celventra won second place in the girls' oratorical ora-torical contest in the state speech tournament held last week in Provo. Robert Bird won first place in the F. F. A. public speaking contest con-test held Monday afternoon. He will represent our school at the district contest, which will he held here Monday afternoon. Others members who entered arc: Rulon Crandall, Lawrence Bird, Eldon Mackley, and Elmo Jensen. The Public Service Bureau from the B. Y. U. gave a special as-: as-: scmbly Monday. Several musical, dramatic, and dancing numbers featured an enjoyable program, with Roy Broadbent, student body president, in charge. The assembly assem-bly this Friday will be given by the Provo high school. Monday evening the F. F. A. chapter here will hold their Fathers Fath-ers and Sons banquet with President Presi-dent Lawrence Bird conducting. The state supervisor of Utah, L. R. Humpheys, will introduce the principal speakers, W. A. Ross from Washington, D. C, National Secretary of F. F. A and Mr. Sandstrom of South Dakota, National Na-tional President of the F. F. A. One hundred guests from other schools are expected, besides one hundred and fifty members and their fathers from Springville. |
