The Springville fire department was called to a burning automobile automo-bile belonging to the Anderson garage near the D. & R. G. railroad rail-road depot Tuesday forenoon. Robertson of this city, author of numerous novels and short stories published internationally interna-tionally was among the speakers at the first annual Writer's Roundup held Saturday evening I at Aspen Grove, Provo canyon, Mr. Robertson among other things said that in the last decade the situation with regard to Utah subjects sub-jects and western writers in general gen-eral was changing and eastern editors look with much more favor fa-vor on western products. A discussion of the Utah county and the state fairs relative to the number and kind of entries, featured a meeting of the 4-H club under the direction of Fred Weight last week. The boys also discussed the county 4-H outing to be held August 20. They decided de-cided to hold meetings regularly at 7:30 p. m. on Tuesday evenings. Jay Thorpe is reporter. The First ward Relief society featured a social under the direction direc-tion of the special activity committee com-mittee at the city park Tuesday afternoon. A large crowd attended. attend-ed. President Milendo Sumsion gave an informal talk on her recent re-cent trip to Yellowstone Park and other program numbers were especially es-pecially enjoyable. Refreshments were served in conclusion. Othel Bird who was injured in a gun accident at Strawberry a week ago was returned Monday from the Heber City hospital where he had been confined. He sustained serious injury to his neck and jaw, the shot having penetrated the latter after having passed through tne windpipe. He is convalescing nicely. |
