Show Happenings In The Recreation Activities The children at tile jjlaywjund have btten having a very Kood time Llie pa.st week, and are going to have lot.s of tun the rent of the .summer. rnU-resting handicraft, painting, art-work, contests, and HpeciaJ event are being planned Unit will be very enjoyable for nil. I,ast week in the art-work, the children made cut-out pictures; for handicraft, they made clever wagona out of paste-board boxes, and all tlie time enjoyed many panics. Last .Saturday was held a checkerboard contest. Each two players played three games, and the winner played the winner of another pair and losers played losers. John Savage won first place in this contest. For the younger children there was 'a .sand-building contest, to .see who could build the best sand houses. This week in the art-work, the children are making booklets of magazine pictures. They go through old magazines, cut out pictures belonging to the theme they have chosen, such as foods sports, children, babies, etc., and paste them on art paper, ' and make a booklet of Cicm. The handicraft for this week is the building of small houses out of art paper. The special event Saturday Sat-urday is a doll show. Every little girl in town is invited to dress up her doll or dolls in their best and bring them to the park Saturday Satur-day morning. Because the boys would probably not be so interested interest-ed in a doll show, they are invited to come and enter the croquet tournament held at the same time. All children are invited to come and join In the fun at the park. A recently organized Elder's league softball, comprising teams from each L. D. S. ward in Spring-ville, Spring-ville, is expected to attract the attention at-tention of softball fans this month. They have all done a great deal of Public Service work in Springville, and have always al-ways been willing to do all they could helping others both in the field of dancing and dramatic art. This summer, they very willingly will-ingly and enthusiastically have given their time and effort to the giving of free dancing lessons. les-sons. These lessons started July 5 and continued to the end of the first week in August. Children of all ages took this fine opportunity of receiving free dancing lessons. Each student was given two lessons les-sons each week. Ages ranged from, three years to 14 years of age. There were close to 300 children chil-dren who participated. They all enjoyed their lessons very much, and all clambered for more when the coup'se was finished. Also we wish to thank the pianists pian-ists of these teachers who very willingly gave of their time also These girls were: Phyllis Smart, Beth Mendenhall, and Virginia Bird.
