Show Local Mrs. Olive Olsen of- this city is convalescing from an operation for appendicitis performed recently recent-ly at the Dr. George Anderson hospital. Woodruff Anderson, 11, son of W. H. Anderson, agriculture instructor in-structor at the high school, . and Mi's. Anderson, is recovering from an appendicitis operation which he underwent recently at Dr. George Anderson's hospital. Work is underway on construction construc-tion of two new standard size tennis ten-nis courts at the high school campus. cam-pus. Principal W. W. . Brockbank has the plans in charge. Some improvements will also .be made on the old court and is expected to be completed within 30 days. . i Members of the Fourth ward choir, under the direction of Carl Nelson, gave a program at the Bonneville ward in Provo, Sunday Sun-day evening. Ed Johnson left Saturday to attend a course sponsored by the United Motors at Denver, Colo. He plans to be. gone about one week. Mrs. J. C. Nielson of this city has been appointed supervisor of the 4-H girls' clubs of this district, dis-trict, succeeding Mrs. Verl Jones. Mrs. Nielson has selected Mrs. Grant Whitehead as assistant supervisor. su-pervisor. These two officers plan to begin immediately on plans for the 4-H club drive to secure the cooperation of parents and girls in the work. The selection of 4-H club leaders will also be announced soon. Under the direction of Miss Elna Miller of Logan, extension nutritionist of the State Agriculture Agri-culture college, a bread making demonstration was conducted at the Fourth Ward Relief Society kitchen Monday. About 15 ladies representing the work and business busi-ness sections of the ward Relief Societies, were in attendance and received instructions which they will give in their respective wards at a later date. Dr. George H. Hansen, professor of geology, archaeology and anthropology an-thropology at the Brigham Young-university, Young-university, Provo, gave an interesting inter-esting talk on the "Science of the Book of Mormon," at the M. I. A. adult class in the First ward, Tuesday evening. The class is under the direction of J. W. Olsen. Ol-sen. PROVO Beth Anderson of Springville, student at Brigham Young university, was selected a member of the cast of "Stage Door," first freshman play to be presented on the 'Y' campus. The cost of the play from which the recent movie was adopted is composed com-posed of twenty girls and twelve men. Rehearsals have begun under the direct'on of Dr. T. Earl Par-doe Par-doe and Kathryn B. Pardoe and production will take place in two weeks. |
