Show ! SOCMY NkVS Wednesday to attend funeral services ser-vices of George Whitehead, who was fatally injured on construction construc-tion work at Deer Cree'K, the latter lat-ter part of last week. Mrs. Lydia Dallin and her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Young of Salt Lake City, visited Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Handley, and other friends in Springville. Mrs. Bill Blanchard, Mrs. J.W. Blanchard and daughter, Betty, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Richmond in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bird and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Erdman came from Midvale Sunday to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Bird, and Mrs. Augusta Erdman, Erd-man, respectively. LaConda club members and their partners enjoyed a delightful delight-ful evening Friday at the local art gallery, where they were taken on a tour of the pictures by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Later, ! the group assembled at the home I of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson, An-derson, with Mr. and Mrs. Ruet Jacobsen, . assisting host and hostess. hos-tess. After a delicious luncheon, bridge was enjoyed with Mr. and Mrs. Percy Anderson winning win-ning high score prize and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Maycock, the consolation. Mrs. Thelma Clark will be hostess host-ess to members of the S. T. club on Wednesday, April 26. The : meeting will be held at the Mrs. j VlrKil Bird home, beginning at 8 o'clock. i A delightful meeting of the ' Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp Kolob convened Thursday afternoon, after-noon, at the home of Mrs. Zelma ; Beardall. Mrs. Hilda Cherrington, i Mrs. Florence Boyer, and Mrs. Jeanette Ullock, were a-ssisting hostesses. Mrs. Emma Beardall presided. The program featured I accordion solos by Elmo Curtis; a history of her great grandpar-j grandpar-j ents Francis and Emma Gabbitas ' Beardall, given in an interesting manner by Miss Verlal'ne Beardall. Mrs. Leona Olsen gave the lesson on "Graves Along the Trail" and a number of members responded with interesting incidents of their family history in connection with the lesson subject. Mrs. Flossie Sanford gave a short talk on registration. In conclusion, dainty refreshments were served to 35 members. Mis. J. F. Wingale has returned from a four weeks .stay in Los Angeles, Calif., where she was called on account of the recent death of her father, V. O. D. Meakl'n. Mrs. O. S.- Oondie recently returned re-turned from an extended visit with her relatives in California. Miss Marie Johnson of Ullw city, I superintendent .of nurses at the L .D. S. hosptial, Salt Lake City, left the past week for New Orleans, Or-leans, where she will attend a convention con-vention of the National Legion of Nursing Education, the latter part of the month. Mrs. W. W. Brockbank was hostess to members of the Alpha Beta club at her home Friday afternoon. The feature of the meeting was a lecture by Homer Wakefield of Provo who gave in a most interesting manner the life and works of the composer, Edward Ed-ward Alexander McDowell. Supplementing Sup-plementing his remarks, he also played several selections toy the composer. Mrs. M. R. Straw gave a report of the Utah Federation of Women's clubs at Ogden last week. In conclusion a dainty lunch was served to 19 club members and guests. Home Culture club members were guests' of Mrs. Helen Thorpe at a no hostess meeting Monday night. A delightful feature of the entertainment was a review of the book, "Season Timber" by Mrs. Blanch Beal. Refreshments were served in conclusion to 18 members and guests. MJ-s. Monday evening at the Roberts hotel in Provo, the Thespian honor society of the Springville high school held their annual formal dinner. The banquet room was decorated decorat-ed as a night club, with the central cen-tral theme "Deep Purple." As the guests arrived their wraps were taken by hat check girls, and to give the atmosphere even more of a night cluo spirit, cigarette girls dressed in black and red uresses went among the tables selling "Duckey Stripes" chocolate choco-late cigarettes. A very beautuul uoor snow was given with deep purple spots revealing each entertainer. en-tertainer. Numbers given were: a vocal solo, Virginia Bird; toasts by several members of the club, lango dance, Evon Child and Grant Clyde; vocal duel, Jetue Jacob anu Bculah Whiting. Music lor tne dancing was lurnished by the "Rhythm Aces."
