NERO TEACHERS PLEDGING AID SPANISH FOUK Teachers of the Nebo school district, members of the Nebo teacher's association, have agreed to keep the schools of th district open until Jvlay 12, whether or not furulw-aie available for salaries. Due to the inability of the state officers to tell the amount of funds which will be paid to the school districts from the state district sctiool fund account, no board of education is at this time able to tell how much will be onx hand to finish out the present year. Without this last cut, if salaries are paid in full up to May 12, all teachers are taking a cut Ibis year of 15 per cent of their salaries as contracted, in addition to a cut made at One close of last year. The school board in planning for next year have laid down these rules in planning that budget: First. To maintain a 1'ulE year ff school work next year in spite of declining valuation ; second, no deficit will be allowed. Third. No increase in tax levy shall be made. Whether or not $l, reduction can be made will depend upon the valuations which are not known until later in the year.' As one of the first steps in putting put-ting this pcticy into effect a reduction reduc-tion in expense of supervision was ordered. The superintendent was instructed to prepare a plan which would place supervisors in part time teaching positions with the expectation of replacing teachers w'ho will resign. The supervisors will be asked to . imake general plans, meet teachers in group meetings, meet-ings, plan tests, activities, give demonstrations in various techniques, tech-niques, and organize teachers for I group study, etc., but visit teachers in the classroom only as arranged by the superintendent. This policy pol-icy it is believed wilT. effect general gener-al supervisors, music directors, attendance at-tendance officers and probably the school nurse. |
