Show KOLOB STAKE HONOR NIGHT BIG SUCCESS Kolob stake M. I. A. honor night was held Tuesday in the Springville Second ward. Unusual interest was shown, the house being filled to capacity. Contestants in the various events won places as follows: fol-lows: Music ladies' chorus, Second ward, first, Ray Alleman, director; Fourth ward, second, Alberta Men-den Men-den hall, director. Mixed chorus, Fourth ward, first, Miss Menden-hall, Menden-hall, director; male chorus, First ward, first, Ralph Weight, di-i di-i ector ; Fourth ward, second, Alberta Al-berta Mendenhall, director. "M",Men public speaking John Patrick, Fourth ward, first; Maple-ton Maple-ton and Second ward tied for sec- ond place with Leonard Whiting and Harold Bissell, participating. Gleaner girls' public speaking Alberta Mendenhall, Fourth ward, first; Virgie Barthoomew., Second ward, second. Vanguard retold story Fred Jensen, Jen-sen, Mapleton, first; Max Alleman, Second ward, second. Junior girls' story telling Norma Harrison, Second ward, first; Josephine Jo-sephine McKenzie, Third ward, second. Dance Alberta Mendenhall and Blake Holley, Fourth ward, first; Helen Alleman and Loman Hutch-ings, Hutch-ings, Second ward, second. In the group Second ward, first and Fourth ward, second. Drama Fourth ward, first; Second Sec-ond ward, second. First place winners in each event except the music, will enter the division di-vision contests next Monday and Tuesday evenings, at Provo. The music groups including all who entered the contests, together with the accompanists and directors di-rectors will appear in concert at the tabernacle in Salt Lake during the June conlerence. During the contests Tuesday evening, eve-ning, the "M" Men basketball team of Mapleton, was awarded the stake championship banner. This banner has gone to a Mapleton team for four consecutive years. The team also won this division the past season. |
