With Fitting Exercises Pioneers Participate Impressive ceremonies Monday marked the dedication of the site of the monument to pioneer mothers moth-ers to be erected on the southeast corner of the iSpringville city park. Wlilis K. Johnson, Sr., one of the oldest members of the pioneer company of lSfiO offered the dedicatory dedica-tory prayer. Mis. Eliza Thorn, lift- time, resident resi-dent of this community and vice chairman of the monument committee com-mittee gave an o'le to Pioneers. Mayor John L. Whiting, President Josephine Jones of Utah county chapter of D. of P., and Mrs. Grace Cheever. chairman of Utah county landmark and monument committee commit-tee .of Provo, each spoke briefly on the merits of the pioneer project, honoring pioneer mothers. Community singing was led by Iilla. Reynolds. Chairman S. L. I.lendenhall Sr. was in charge of the program. ' The first cement for the foundation founda-tion was poured by Chairman Men-.lenhall, Men-.lenhall, Vice Chairman Eliza Thoin, Secretary Hattie Dougall ;:nd Capt:nns Klla Reynolds and Margaret .Miner of the two local D. of P. tamps. A large crowd of citizens attended. The foundation for the monument monu-ment ir, being laid under the direction direc-tion of K t n v s t A, Strong, Ivan Child, George Gahbitas and A. Y. Wheeler. A massive stone weighing . approximately ap-proximately 7 l-j tons will rest on the foundation. The cast of the monument has arrived from Boston and the work on the project is expected to continue con-tinue until its completion in July.
