Show SPRINGVILLE KIWANIS CLUB ! WILL CELEBRATE FIFTEENTH ! BIRTHDAY; HUGHES SPEAKER ; Thuisdny, January 23, our club j will join wilh 1S51 other clubs of : Kiwanis International in observance observ-ance of the fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the organization, Ernest E. Knudsen, of the local club, announced today. Kiwanis International was organized or-ganized in Detroit in 1915 and the first ngular meeiing was held on January 21 of that year. The membership mem-bership of Kiwanis International, totalling more than 102,000 is contained con-tained in clubs located in 1852 cities, large and small, in the United Unit-ed States and Canada. Horace V. McDavid of Decatur, Illinois, is the international president, having j been elected at the June, 1029. convention con-vention at Milwaukee. Wisconsin. Kiwanis will hold its 1930 con-j con-j venliun in Atlantic City. New i Jersey, June 29 to July 3. "The Springville club is now 8 years old..' said l.lr. Knudsen, "and we have enjoyed the growth and' development that has come to the international organization of which we are a chartered and active unit." Together with others comprising the 102.000 membership the local Kiwanians will fittingly observe the anniversary. Program for the anniversary week is being prepared by the local club's committee on Kiwanis education, which committee commit-tee is composed of Ernest E. Knud-sen, Knud-sen, M. O. Packard and M R Straw. The major objectives for 1930 which will be re-stressed at the anniversary meeting include: under-privileged child work vocational voca-tional guidance and . placement urban-rural relations and social I and civic undertakings of a general gen-eral and specific nature. Dr. Joseph Hughes, of the Spanish Span-ish Fork club, will be the principal speaker at the anniversary meeting; meet-ing; a four minute tallr on Anni-vcrsary Anni-vcrsary Week will be given by Claude Salisbury; a short talk on Kiwanis ideals will be given by S L. Mendenhall Sr., district trustee ! Music will be furnished by ni. bird,'! school trumpet quartet. 1 |
