Show SPRINGViLLE WOMAN WINS DISTINCTION No doubi friends here will be pleased to know of the success which Mrs. Com Thorne Bird, formerly for-merly of this city, is attaining in musical circles of southern California. Cali-fornia. A short time ago Mrs. Bird w.vs featuied in the fashion show, musical musi-cal and bridge party of the Los Angeles Women's City club, an outstanding out-standing event in the social life of Los Angeles. Mrs. Bird has been pi ima donna of the Shrine Light Opera company; com-pany; sre? has been soloist in Sid Grauman's theater, unci has had the distinction of doubling for Lionel Bai rymore's leading lady in the stage production of "Laugh Clown Laugh''. Her work now as a radio and Vitaphone artist is bringing her into the forefront in California Cali-fornia musical circles. The Los Angeles Examiner recently re-cently spoke of Mrs: Bird as follows: fol-lows: "Mrs. Bird's voice is of electrifying electrify-ing brilliance and her coloratura virk is excellent. The sustained phrases nf her Handel number were likewise admirably sung with exquisite ex-quisite phrasing." And the following observation appeared ap-peared in the Los Angeles Herald: "That Cora Bird puts her songs over no one can deny. She has a Near well controlled voice thrj- wins ; one's admiration. Mrs. Bird as Sylvia, steals the honors of the show. She. has charming presence, and wins general applause with her voice. She possesses a' voice of extraordinary ex-traordinary capacity, power anO flexibility, is a rare musician and has a charming personality and a remarkable stage presence." Mrs. Bird's mother, Mrs. Eliza Thorn recently returned to hei home in this city following a visit of several months with her daughter daugh-ter in Los Angeles. |
