Miss C.'Ieo 1'icrce who is teaching school at Ogdon spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Pierce of this city. Members of the local Farm bureau bu-reau and poultry association entertained enter-tained the Kiwanis club at a banquet ban-quet and nicely arranged program Wednesday evening at the Spring-ville Spring-ville high school. Tlie ri liquet was served by the domestic science girls of the school. ( Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Houston are visiting at the home of their daughter, daugh-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Baxter, anil family. The marriage of Miss Maurine Carroll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.' C. W. Carroll of Provo to Carroll Harrison, sou of Mr. and Mrs., W. Y. Hani sop of Spring ville took place Thursday in the Salt Lake temple. After spending several days in Salt Lake the couple will return to this city where they will make their home. Mr. Harrison is a student stu-dent at the B. Y. XT. and will resume re-sume his studies there. 1 Mrs. Amanda Binks entertained the members of tlie Social Twelve card club at her home Thursday evening. Progressive "500" was played, Mrs. Lee Sumsion won high score prize. A delicious luncheon suggestive of St. Patrick's day was served to the following members : Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, Mrs. Hugh Baxter, Mrs. Harry Pennington, Mrs. Philda Fmley, Mrs. William 11. Brown, Mrs. J. F. Wingate, Mrs. Ijee Sumsion, Mrs. Lewis Clegg, Mrs. Bert Rowland, and Mrs. George Crandall. Mrs. Hfirry Pennington with her daughters Enid and Venice, also her mother Mrs. Joseph Bates returned re-turned from Salt Lake Tuesday where they spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Piper. The. members of the First ward Relief society were entertained . at a social last Tuesday afternoon in honor .of the first Relief society organization. President Marilla Brown gave a short speech of welcome wel-come at the beginning of the meeting, meet-ing, afterwhich Will Parry and Ii. B. Weight entertained with an instrumental in-strumental duet. A character dramatization of the six presiding presidents was given accompanied by songs, instrumental music and poems. Tributes were paid to these presidents as well as to Mrs. Lovell Mendenhall, slake president, and Mrs. Marillo Brown, ward president. The dramatization work- was under the direction of Mrs. Willis Sumsion. Sum-sion. Dainty refreshments in colors suggestive of St. Patrick's day were served to about GO members and guests. |
