A crew of ten men is working in nobble Creek canyon about ten miles east of Springville, on the right-of-way of the Salt Lake and Denver railroad, according to notice that has been sent by the conipnuy to the public utilities commission. The crew has been working in the canyon during the past tn days to safe gunrd the certificate of convenience con-venience granted the company. The certificate would have expired Monday Mon-day if no work had been done on the right-of-way up to that time. "We are going quitely ahead with the work and expect to continue until un-til the railroad has been built," former Governor Simon Bamberger president of the company, said yesterday. yes-terday. "We have not borrowed any money and do not Intend to. We have received some money from the east and some from sources here and have funds enough to proceed with construction for the next two or three years. When conditions open up I intend to go east again to make further arrangements for financing the drive. "We have the certificate of convenience con-venience from the state and intend to hold it nnd to complete the road hy the time the Moffat tunnel is completed, so that we may connect with the line using that road." It has been estimated that forty-six forty-six months will be consumed in boring bor-ing the tunnel, which was started last August. However, the Salt Lake & Denver railroad has three years in which to complete their line into the Uintah basin. |
