Erdman, son of Mrs. Augusta Erdman of this city and Elen Poulsen of Spanish Fork were married in the Manti temple Friday September 21. Jollcy, whose birthday , anniversary was celebrated at the j family home Sunday. After the annual "flag rush" between be-tween the ninth and tenth grades of the local high school which occurred oc-curred Friday, the girls of the tenth grade entertained at an elaborate banquet in the dining room of the high school in compliment to the boys of the class. The first meeting of the Service Star Legion of Springville was held Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Rose Boyer, Mrs. Mary Hatfield, Hat-field, president of the association, presided. A splendid program was given during the afternoon as follows: fol-lows: Community singing; piano solos, Miss Tess Hines; two vocal solos, Miss Helen Fox, accompanied at the piano by Miss La Vera Hardy; vocal duet, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Brown; Dutch dance, Miss Beth Mendenhall; story, Mrs. Rose Boyer. Plans for a Hallowe'en party to be given next month at the home of Mrs. Viola Crandall were discussed. In conclusion a dainty 1 luncheon, carrying out the autumn j idea, was served to twenty members and guests present The entertain- ing rooms were beautiful with a 1 profusion of autumn flowers ar-j ar-j ranged in large baskets. Miner of this city entertained at a well-arranged informal family dinner at their home Sunday in compliment to Mrs. Miner's brother, Dr. Eugene Dalton of Atlantic City, New Jersey, who is visiting relatives here. In compliment to Mrs. Zina Crandall and her children who have spent the summer months in Idaho and have returned to make their home in Springville during the winter, win-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Crandall entertained (at a family dinner at their home Simday. A delightful afternoon was spent by a number of young folks Thursday Thurs-day when Mrs. Bert West entertained enter-tained at a birthday party in compliment com-pliment to her daughter La Ree who was eleven years old. A pretty birthday cake, with other dainty refreshments re-freshments and a program of games led by the hostess were enjoyed by about twelve little folks present. Many pretty birthday gifts were received re-ceived by the honor guest. About ten little friends were present pres-ent to enjoy the birthday party given Friday by Mrs. Fred Miller in In honor of Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler whose silver wedding anniversary an-niversary occured Sunday, their daughter, Mrs. Frank Cranmer, en-! tertained at an informal family dinner din-ner at her home. The dining table was centered with a basket of roses. Covers were laid for honor guests, Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler, and children, Mrs. Walter Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. David Wheeler, O. W. Nichols of Denver, Colo., and the host and hostess. The ward officers and partners and the stake board members and partners of the Mutual Improvement Improve-ment association of Kolob stake will hold their annual social Friday evening eve-ning in the Springville high school. A splendid program including a one-act playlet entitled "The Little Clowd" will be given; also dancing will be enjoyed. Music will be furnished fur-nished by the Weight orchestra. The ladies of the Home Culture club were pleasantly entertained Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. G. Salisbury. Earl Hutch-ings Hutch-ings who recently filled an L. D. S. mission in Africa and completed a tour of the world, gave an especially interesting talk on his experiences, 1 and displayed many beautiful pieces of handiwork which he had purchased in different foreign countries. coun-tries. A. was the outstanding feature of the well arranged program given at the meeting of the Mother's Study club held Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. O. Reynolds. Mrs. Minerva Miner-va Wright also entertained with two readings, and games were conducted conduct-ed by the hostess. At roll call each member responded with a friendship friend-ship sentiment honoring the late Mrs. Drucella lark, a member of the club. Mrs. Arvil Bir.d and Mrs. Joseph Grant were voted upon as compliment to her daughter Billie Fay who was seven years old that day. Games and dainty refreshments refresh-ments were enjoyable features of the party. The Democrats of Springville entertained en-tertained at a social Friday evening in the Third ward amusement hall. Alva Zabrlskie was chairman of the party and a very enjoyable time was spent with a program, games and refreshments. A large crowd enjoyed en-joyed the affair. A pleasant evening was spent Thursday when a number of relatives rela-tives and neighbors entertained at a birthday party in compliment to Miss Amelia Weight who was fifty-seven fifty-seven years old that day. The party was held at the home of the honored hon-ored guest. A program consisting of musical selections and readings were given; also games were enjoyed. enjoy-ed. Many useful use-ful birthday gifts were received by Miss Weight from those present, as well as from a number of relatives who were unable to attend the party.
