Show This And That ABOUT GUTTERS " "Springville is reflecting- a more wholesome appearance as a result of the beautification movement throughout the city than I have ever seen beiore," observes J. F. Wingate, member of the high school faculty and chairman of the art committee of that institution. "I was interested last week to note that Mr. Kless touched touch-ed on the importance of moving some of the unsightly fences in front of homes along the main street through the city. Such a move on the part of the citizens whose fences mar the beauty of their premises is one worthy of consideration. "Another step which, in my opinion, should be taken by our city officials that would contribute greatly to the sanitation sanita-tion and general appearance of the business district is that of cleaning the filthy gutters. "These gutters have become veritable sewer traps, and with a winter's accumulation of all sorts of debris and decayed de-cayed matter are a disgrace to the city. Especially is this true since so little effort or expense would be involved in turning sufficient water in these channels to carry this waste matter off. "It's an important step in the general beautification movement, and one should commend itself to the early attention atten-tion of the members of the city council in charge of the streets department." |
