Professor Eastmond of tbe B. Y. U. gave an interesting talk on iirt. Miss Len-na Len-na Thnrber played a piano olo; Miss Hazel Anderson played the violin, vio-lin, and Miss Gloria Friel also played a piano selection. Delicious refreshments were served by the i hostess- to eighteen members and two guests. j Mr. and Mrs. T. II. Cellventra were guests last Friday evening at an enjoyable card social given in the Odd Fellows' hall at Provo by the Kebekahs. Mr .Cellventra was fortunate and won one of the prizes during the game of five hundred. Mr. and Mrs. John Bauer of Eureka Eu-reka and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Falk-ner Falk-ner of Provo were dinner guests Friday at (he home of Mr. and Mrs. George Wimp-kins. . After dinner a delightful time was, spent viewing liic pictures in, the high school art gallery. . . 1 , Bishop Charles Bird,' formerly of this' city but who is now making his home at Cnrdston, Alberta, Canada, spent Sunday at the home of Miss Orpha Deal. Mr. Bird attended conference con-ference in Salt Lake during last week and took the opportunity to come to Springville to visit a number num-ber of former friends and relatives. One of the outstanding social events of this week will he the dancing danc-ing party given tomorrow night by the members of the Boosters' club of the high school. Every effort is being put forth to insure the dancing public a real treat. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Pratt of Hinckley, Utah, motored to Springville Spring-ville Sunday and spent the day with Mrs. Pratt's sister, Mrs. Mark Itey-nohls Itey-nohls of this city. Primary conference was held Sunday Sun-day evening in the First ward chapel. An entertaining and well arranged program was given by the different classes. Mrs. William Weight was appointed new president presi-dent of the First ward Primary to succeed Mrs. Jacob Felix, who re-ecntly re-ecntly resigned. Mrs. Sylvia Cran-dall Cran-dall and Mrs. Lola Weight were appointed ap-pointed as counselors. A large crowd of patrons enjoyed the program. pro-gram. A prettily appointed dinner party was given Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Cherringtou at their home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Peynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bearn-sun Bearn-sun of Ogden, Dr. Earl Reynolds and Miss LaVerne Crosby of Provo. Mrs. J. L. Loveridge of this city spent Saturday and Sunday with her husbaijd, who is doing construction construc-tion work at Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hogan and three children spent a few days this week with Mr. Hogan's sister. Mrs. .Willis Weight.' Mi Hogan was a former resident of this city. A delightful affair of the week was the. party given Tuesday evening eve-ning at. the home of Mrs. D. A. Smith in honor of Mrs. Alice Packard Pack-ard Johnson, who is visiting here from Scofielii. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Handley of this city and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Black were guests at a delicious dinner party given by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holdaway at their home in Vineyard Sunday. Mrs. D. B. Welsh was hostess to the members of the Home Culture club at her home Saturday. An enjoyable en-joyable program was given, including includ-ing several piano selections by Miss Katherine Davies of Salt Lake City ; a paper entitled "Pictures in the Home" by Mrs. J. F. Wingate. A discussion of the influence of the comic strip was given by the members mem-bers of the club, after which a delicious de-licious luncheon was served to fourteen four-teen members and seven guests. Mr. and Mrs. A. Y.. Wheeler, ac coinpanied by Mrs. J. O. Reynolds and Mrs. A. W Cherringtou, spent Saturday in Salt Lake with relatives. rela-tives. Mr. and Mrs. II. T. Thorpe were also Salt Lake visitors last week. They spent some time with Mrs. Eva Burton. A nicely arranged dinner party was given Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson at their home. Mrs. Guy Mendenhall came from San Bernardino, California, Wednesday, Wed-nesday, where she has spent the past two months with her husband, who is doing missionary work there. Mrs. . Mendenhall intended to stay another month, but came home on account of her daughter Alberta undergoing an operation for appendicitis appen-dicitis Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Done and children, chil-dren, of Eureka, were guests Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. V hittaker. Professor and Mrs. A. B. Wright of Salt Lake City visited in Springville1 Spring-ville1 Friday. Professor Wright is very much interested in tlie art gallery, gal-lery, and has made several visits here since its beginning. ' Among the leading social events of the week was the bridge luncheon lunch-eon given by Mrs. S. C. Whit taker nt her residence Saturday evening. The tastefully arranged entertaining entertain-ing rooms were prettily decorated in a color scheme of pink and lavender, lav-ender, sweet peas and ferns being used. Five tables of bridge were played, the high score favor being awarded to Mrs. Ray Hansen, guest favor to Mrs. V". S. Wilson, and draw favors to Mrs. G. H. lleindsel-n lleindsel-n an of Provo and Mrs. Glenn Neil. A delicious luncheon in keeping with tlie color scheme was served at five small tables at the beginning of the party.
