Show PROVO PLAYERS WIN PLACES ON CRACK TEAM Kaile and Hoover Characterized Character-ized as Brilliant Players of State Baseball Tournament Vhile the Springville . baseball team, comprised of men from other teams of the Utah Central league, failed to take first honors in the state amateur baseball tournament, which was completed Monday, two of her players, Itaile and Hoover. loth of Provo, were given positions on the all-star team. The selection, made by the five umpires in the series, is a representative represen-tative group of stars. Although, as (ever, there will be differences of opinion on some of the choices, a number of players selected were so outstanding that there was no question1 ques-tion1 as to their superiority. Among these Bliss Hoover of the Provo team was singled out as one of the tournament's most brilliant performers. He was named as center fielder on the all-star team. Quoting the Salt Lake press on his playing: "He hit heavily and fielded brilliantly. The youth takes a dendly cut at the ball, probably possessing the best batting form of any of the tournament players Captain Kaile of the Provo team, who also entered the tournament with Springville, was given second base position on the all-star team. Of his playing the press says: "His fielding was head and shoulders above that of any of ihe others and he was a dangerous hitter." The Salt Lake Jewelers won the state tournament, five of their players winning places on the all-star all-star team. |
