Show HANSEN AND PARKER ARE NOMINATED BY REPUBLICANS ' FOURTH DISTRICT JUDGES , Judge Elias Hansen was renominated by acclamation by ' 1 ' the Republican Fourth district judicial convention meeting in j the courthouse in Provo Monday afternoon. , j George P. Parker was named for the second judgeship. M. B. Pope, present district attorney, was nominated for that place on the Republican ticket. i ' The convention was called to order or-der by I. E. Brockbank, county chairman of the Republican party in Utah county. Representatives were present from each one of the four counties comprising the district, Utah, Wasatch, Duchesne and Uintah. Uin-tah. The call of the convention was read by R. E. Miller of My ton. I. E. Brockbank was placed in nomination as temporary chairman by H. A. Gardner of Spanish Fork. J. D. Wadley of Pleasant Grove nominated Chase Hatch for temporary tem-porary chairman. Mr. Brockbank was elected temporary tem-porary chairman. Ed Hatch of Heber and R. TV. McMullin of Puyson were nominated nomi-nated as temporary secretary. Mr. Hatch received the greatest number of votes and was elected. The delegates began arriving in Provo early Monday forenoon. They gathered in groups on the streets and discussed the political situation in general. Friends of the respective candidates candi-dates to be nominated at the judicial convention moved in and out of the crowd getting acquainted with the delegates from other localities and putting forth the qualifications of their respective candidates. After a motion had been passed that each county chairman name a member on each of the necessary committees, Mrs. Lncy Farnsworrh Thompson of Provo objected on the ground that Utah county with two-thirds two-thirds of the delegates should be entitled en-titled to more than one delegate on each committee. A motion to this end. nlaoed hv John Hiintpr of Utah, and W. T. Hamilton of Wasatch. Wa-satch. The committee on order of busi- 1 ness were Fred Ferron of Duchesne, t John T. Bullock of Uinta, E. H. t Street of Utah, and J. Parley Edwards Ed-wards of Wasatch. ; Following the withdrawal of the two committees for deliberation, the ; convention adjourned for 15 min- 1 utes. ? The delegates from Utah county I : met in caucus shortly after 1 o'clock to decide what action should lie ' taken by them in the convention. It was the unanimous opinion that Utah county should demand the two judgeships and permit any of the other counties to get the nominee nomi-nee for district attorney. The caucus showed tiiat the race for the now judgeship would be between A. L. Booth and George P. ; ' Parker, both of whom had friends 1 working for them in the convention. conven-tion. ' instructed his friends that under no condition would he permit his name ' to lie mentioned at this tinu. It was by far the larg- t est judicial district convention ever . j held in the fourth district. j Karl Keeler of Payson, chahman of the credentials committee, reported report-ed that each county be permitted ' to vote its full strength. The committee as adopted also recom- 1 mended that the nomination of two district judges be the first order of 'j business followed by the nomiua- I tion of the district attorney, th6 I appointment of a judicial committee , and a committee of vacancies. I Chase Hatch read a resolution i adopted and signed by all of the Republican lawyers of the Fourth judicial district endorsing Judge Elias Hansen, incumbent, to succeed suc-ceed himself as a caudidate for the judgeship. Henry Gardner of Spanish Fork nominated Judge Hansen. He was named by acclamation, receiving the unanimous vote of the convention. Clifford Young of American Fork nominated George P. Parker of Provo for the judgeship. Clarcuce Harmon of Provo nominated nomi-nated A. L. Booth of Provo as a candidate for the judgeship. James H. Gardiner of Lehi nominated nomi-nated Arthur V. Watkins of Lehi as a candidate for district judge. Thomas O'Donnell of Vernal nominated nom-inated Charles DeMoisey of Vernal as a candidate for judge. American Fork, was defeated.
