An enjoyable evening was spent Saturday by a number of young friends when Miss Gloria Friel entertained en-tertained at n tlancirg p:rty and luncheon at her home. The spacious spa-cious entertaining rooms were prettily decorated with carnations and ferns. At 12 o'clock a deiciP;US luncheon was served, before which dancing and radio music furnished peasant entertainment. Thost present pres-ent to enjoy the deightful affair were Miss Faun Greer, Miss Fay Whitwer, DeVere Brimhall, Bud Eound. Albert Payne all of Provo, and Hazel Anderson, Beth Smith, Edna Starr, Blake Hnlley, Frank Brinton, Bliss Crandall, and the In compliment to Helen Reynolds who leaves soon to fill a mission, the officers and teachers of the Third ward religion classes pleasantly pleas-antly surprised her at her home Monday evening with a handkerchief handker-chief shower. They also presented her with a beautiful basket of carnations. The Daughters of the Pioneers, j Camps No. 1 and 2, will entertain conjointly at the annual social Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon, April 21, in the First ward chapel. A report of the recent convention was given by Mrs. Bculah Whiting, secretary, and business pertaining to the installation of the' new officers offi-cers was transacted. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bird were guests Saturday evening at a surprise sur-prise party given in honor of G. D. Wood of Provo who is leaving soon to work in Price. Dancing, card games, and music were the diversions and a tasty luncheon was served. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn accompanied accom-panied Mr. and Mrs. A. O Thorn to Eureka Sunday where they were dinner guests of Mrs. Thorn's sister Mrs. Theodo.re Fullmer and family. Nearly fifty guests including relatives rela-tives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Averett, who were recently married, were present at a shower given in honor of the young couple by Mrs. George Averett and Mrs. Ed Averett at the home of the latter lat-ter Friday evening. The entertaining entertain-ing rooms were pretty with a variety varie-ty of early spring blossoms. Music and games furnished pleasant entertainment en-tertainment during the evening after which a tasty luncheon was served by the hostesses. Prominent among the social events of this week was the entertainment enter-tainment given Monday evening by Miss Lucille Straw, Miss Marie Kindred and Miss lone Palfrey-man Palfrey-man for the members of the Gamma Gam-ma Phi Ommicron home economic sorcrity. This organization was ; former on a scholastic basis and includes professors of home economics eco-nomics and college girls who have attained grades of B or above upon reaching their junior year. Those from Springiville who have been affiliated with this sorority are : Anna, Starr, Mary Bird, Marie Kindred, Kin-dred, Lucille Straw, Donna Hansen, Han-sen, and .lone Palfreyman. Early Monday evening the present members mem-bers numbering twenty-four visited visit-ed the art gallery where an enjoyable en-joyable time was spent viewing the pictures which were explained in an interesting manner' by Virgil Hafen. Later they assembled at the home cf Miss lone Palfreyman in the form of a pledge meeting and four new members were admitted. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostesses in keeping with the idea of spring. Dainty favors representing repre-senting tiny baskets of flowers were used. The table was centered with a yellow bowl of lavender hyacinths hya-cinths and daffodils. During the luncheon a program of music and social chat were enjoyed. Mrs. J. X. Gardner and Mrs. G. S. Wood were hostesses Sunday at a nicely arranged luncheon at their home in honor of Judge and Mrs D. W.
