Show SMITH READY TO GO SOUTH ALBANY, N. Y Oct. 9. (UP) Gov. Alfred E. Smith packed a big bundle of new speech making material mate-rial in his trunk today for a trip southward designed to offset flirtatious flirta-tious advantages of Republicans in the border states. So confident was he that these normally Democratic states would stick by him in the election, Smith planned to use the derby more than his speech making material. Announcement was made officially ; from his personal headquarters that he will cover the border states situation in one speech, at Louisville, Louis-ville, Ky., Saturday night. At Richmond, Va., Raleigh, Greensboro, Salisbury and Charlotte, Char-lotte, N. C, Thursday and Nashville, Nash-ville, Tenn., Friday ,he will make only brief appearances most of which will be on the rear platform of his private train. The only exception will be at Chattanooga Friday when he will leave the train for three hours to parade through the city. |
