Mr. and Mrs. Peter Forsyth entertained en-tertained at a nicely arranged informal in-formal dinner at their home Thurs-lay Thurs-lay in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Groesbeck. An enjoyable evening was spent Wednesday by the ladies of the American Legion auxiliary when they were entertained at the home -( Mrs. Elva Averett. Installation ceremonies were conducted by Mrs:. May Thomas, district committne-woman committne-woman and Mrs. Eliza Nelson, president pres-ident of the Spanish Fork auxiliary. Both ladies talked briefly and were especially enthusiastic over the progress pro-gress of the Springville organization. organiza-tion. Mrs. Lela Nelson, president of the auxiliary presided and a well arranged program was given as follows: Reading, Miss Lucy Wainwright; vocal duet, Miss Hannah Han-nah Reynolds and Miss Alberta Mendenhall; comic vocal duet, Misses Marjorie Wheeler and Wil-ma Wil-ma Parker. In conclusion a delicious delic-ious luncheon was served by the hostess to fourteen members and two visitors present. Mrs. Eliza Thorn visited the past wek with her son Richard and wife in Ogden. Mr. Thorn is coach at the Weber high school this year. Before Be-fore her return Mrs. Thorn also spent several days with her daughter daugh-ter and family, Dr. and Mrs. Mark Bringhurst in Salt Lake. The Daughters of the Pioneers Camp No. 2 of this city will meet Thursday, October 11, at the home of Mrs. Ellen McKenzie. A full attendance at-tendance of members of the organization organi-zation is desired. Miss Leona Sums ion, who is teaching school in Salt Lake this winter, spent the week-end with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sum-sion Sum-sion in this city. Prominent among trie social functions func-tions of the past week was the birthday dinner party given Tuesday Tues-day evening by Mrs. Manford Hutchinson in compliment to her husband. A color scheme in pink and white predominated throughout through-out the party in room and table decorations. dec-orations. A large pink and white cake formed the centeipiece for the dining table with tall pink candles in crystal holders placed at either end. A prettily arranged birthday party par-ty was given Saturday afternoon by Mrs. R. B. Maughn in honor of her little daughter Frances, whose fifth birthday occurred that day. Games directed by the hostess were enjoyed, enjoy-ed, also a dainty luncheon, the central cen-tral decorative feature of which was a pretty birthday cake with five candles. Harmer entertained en-tertained at dinner Sunday in compliment com-pliment to Earl Harmer and mother, moth-er, Mrs. Ida Harmer of Salt Lake, and Miss Floss Harmer of this city. Tn the afternoon members of the Harmer families met in the form of a genealogy meeting. Thirteen members were present, including several relatives from out of town. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Russell and two children of Salt Lake spent the week-end with Mr. Russell's mother, Mrs. Eliza Russell in this city. |
