Show ! TEN REASONS WHY THE PRESENT ! REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS, JAS. T. GARDNER, FRED MATLEY BE RE-ELECTED : FIRST: The present Republican Commissioners have devoted : their entire time to the business interests of Utah County. SECOND: They have had installed and are now operating an up-to-date accounting system, thereby bringing order out of chaos. THIRD: The budget system has been installed for the first time in the history of Utah County. FOURTH: The present Republican Administration is balancing balanc-ing its budget and living within its means, and limiting the expenditure expend-iture in each department to the amount submitted in such budget. For the first time in the history 'of Utah County, the County Commissioners Com-missioners have lived within the law, which limits the personal expense of each commissioner. FIFTH: The method of taking care of the indigent poor and widows of Utah County, (which few people understand) is done by the levy of a Special Tax, and amounts to about $40,000.00 annually. A new system has been inaugurated by the present Republican Administration which required that each applicant before receiving relief, answer a searching questionaire under oath as to their financial cbndition, and must be passed upon by the County Commission Com-mission as a whole before relief is granted thereby eliminating un-worthv un-worthv cases which means a more just distribution to those in need. SIXTH: Six hundred and fifty invoices covering hundreds of thousands of dollars due Utah County have been sent out by the present Republican administration and all accounts due Utah County have been made a matter of record. SEVENTH: The present Republican Administration has adopted a purchase order system, thereby centralizing the authority for the purchasing of materials, etc., for the county which is affecting affect-ing a ereat saving to the tax payers. Gasoline is purchased for the County trucks and the cars for the sheriff's office at wholesale prices and is put directly into the cars by the wholesaler, thereby giving a complete check on each truck and car, eliminating waste. No carload purchases of gas are made and strewn over the County in a hundred places as under the Democratic administration. EIGHTH: The present Republican administration has been constant, in and out season in their efforts to secure for Utah County a Federal Reclamation project, having appropriated money for the preliminary surveys. Their efforts have reached a stage now where success seems assured and this will be a very material advantage to the farmers in the county and a big factor towards reducing taxes. ....... NINTH: During the present Republican Administration there has been a uniform expenditure of the County Highway funds. It has been the constant aim of the present Republican Commissioners to see that each road district in the county receive a just proportion of the road.fund. During the last year there has been twenty-five miles of road gravelled, over one hundred and twenty-five miles of road graded, and more miles of hard surfaced road built than ever before in a like period of time in the history of Utah County, and at less cost per mile. Twice each year your present Republican Repub-lican Commissioners have required each road supervisor to report an inventory of county road machinery, so that any time by applying apply-ing the county auditor a complete list of all machinery and implements imple-ments may be had. Also all road supervisors have been required to give bond for the faithful performance of their duties and the proper care of machinery and tools under their care, and the delivery of the same to the property authorities, which was not done during the previous administration. TENTH" The present Republican administration have given careful consideration to the tax problems and have succeeded over the protest of your Democratic commissioner in materially reducing the taxes by a substantial reduction in land values as well as by a reduction' in the levy as evidenced by the following figures.
