Show Recognized The Danger More lives have been lost; more eyes have been put out and more damage done in Springville by boys with guns than has been done by highwaymen or criminals. If the officers are to enforce the law, why not enforce the law regulating boys with guns within the city limits. Ronald Averett the 5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Averett was shot in the left eye with a B. B. gun, while playing play-ing with a crowd of boys on East center street last Saturday. The shot lodged in the eye ball. . After the parents had taken the boy to Salt Lake City and consulted a specialist, he was brought back to .Provo, where the eye was taken out by Drs. Merrill and Oakes. One of the Rowland boys lost his. eye with a 22 rifle in the neighborhood only a short time' ago. - The death of the little Jenkins boy who was killed with a 22 rifle last winter is fresh in the minds' of everybody, and numerous others jould be mentioned. , Is it' not time that this great danger of boys playing with deadly weapons is recognized and exterminated ? It is rot only the boy with the gun whose life is in danger but all the boys in the neighborhood. |
