Show FIREMEN WIN BALL GAME Kiwanis Club of Springville Loses First Baseball Game to Springville Firemen. The Springville volunteer firemen defeated the Springville Kiwanis club in the first baseball game of the season at the high school campus cam-pus Wednesday afternoon, July 30, by a score of 11-8. The game was close and full of interest from the first until the finish. The first score was made by Bill Phillips in the first inning; and it was not until the third inning that the firemen succeeded in tying the score 3-3 aud then taking the lead. The score tied again 5-5 but the Kiwanians never succeeded in getting in the lead again during the game. John N. WiTkins pitched for the Kiwanians, Bill Phillips behind the bat, while Lee Davis for the firemen fire-men took the box and pegged to fire chief Leo G. Robertson. The firemen were represented by Lee Davis, Leo Robertson, Win. N. Grooms, Norris Averett, Win Harrison, Har-rison, Tom Averett, Roy Harrington George Crandali, Harve Blackett, and James Giles, the Kiwanis club by John Wilkins, Bill Phillips Anderson, Dr. Mace, Dr. Beal, Harold Christensen, A. L. Garbet, Clifford Wright, S. C. Whittaker, aud Stephen Deal. The score was as follows for the Firemen, Davis 2, Robinson 1, Grooms 2, Norris Averett 1, Harrington Har-rington 1, Tom, Averett 2, Gilesl for the Kiwanis Phillips 1, Anderson An-derson 2. Beal 1, Christensen 3, Wright 1. A second game will be played Wednesday afternoon1, August ii, at 2 :30 o"clock. |
