Show The message of a Tree To some folks a tree is just a. tree, a stick of wood carrying car-rying foliage. If it is slightly in the way, they remorselessly remorse-lessly cut it down, as if it had no value other than firewood. To others a tree is a spot of refreshment in the heat of summer, a touch of b. autv of the hands of God, in the towns that man has made. Many of the older trees are associated as-sociated with people now gone who planted them years ego, and left this noble monument to their love for their borne towns. The o.der places have famous trees that go back into early history, like the Washington elm, recently removed in Cambridge; Mass., which dated back to the j days when this country consisted only of a few scattered colonies. . The trees of Provo are one of this community's most valuable possessions. They transform the scenes of daily bi'e into homey noiuhborh eods, and give the touch of affection affec-tion to streets that otherwise might seem prosaic. They should be watched and cared for. |
