Show FIRST DISTRICT FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S CLUBS TO MEET IN PROVO SATURDAY, MAY 24 Representatives of the various women's clubs of the First District Federation of "Women's clubs will meet in the regular district meeting meet-ing the new Mena Trope hall on University avenue and Second North street Saturday, May 24. The program for the convention has been arranged by Mrs. Margaret P. Maw, president of the first district. dis-trict. The first session will begin at 10 o'clock with Mrs. Maw in charge and the community singing led by Mrs. Jesse M. Johnson. The opening open-ing song will be "Battle Hymn of tbe Republic." The club prayer suggested by Mrs. Thomas G. Wen ter, president of the National Federation of Women's Wo-men's clubs will be lead by Mrs. S. A. Ware of Payson, vice president of the First district. Mrs. C. B. Berry, secretary, will give a report and read the minutes of the last district convention. The treasurer's report will be given by Mrs. Milan S. Straw of Springville. ' Mrs. A. Christenson wil give the report of the program committee, after which remarks will be made by state officers of the federation. Scholarship awards by the First district to schools for special scholastic schol-astic standing and for essays on sub jects suggested by executive committee commit-tee will be discused by Mrs. Alex Hedonist and Mrs. Cahrles McCoard. Officers for tbe coming year will be elected. At tbe afternoon sesion which begins be-gins at 2 o'clock Mrs. Beless of Salt Lake City will explain and discuss the biennial convention of tbe national na-tional federation to be held in Los Angeles in June. Mrs. J. T. Farrer will give the address ad-dress on Americanization, in which she will emphasize the part played by the women in tbe past and what they will do in the future to raise the standard of American citizenship. citi-zenship. "Political Interest Among the Women" Wo-men" will be discussed bv. Mrs. J. W. Aird of Provo. Following a continuation of the open session, tbe new officers will be installed. "Women of Provo and vicinity are urgently asked to be present at the fses.-jlons since problems of vital importance im-portance will be discussed at the convention," said Mrs. Maw. "We are anxious that as many as possible pos-sible join us on that day and make tbe convention a success." Several of the officers of the state federation will be present at the convention. ' |
