S. training school. j Members of the Elders' quorum of the Maple ton ward were pleasantly pleas-antly entertained last Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mis. Walter Anderson. The time was spent with games, social chat and music, after which a delicious luncheon was served by the hostess to the following couples present: Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Roundy, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Marshbanks, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Tew, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph Cooley, Miss Ruth Anderson, Walter Anderson and Miss Helen Johnson. Mrs. Norris Einks will be hostess to the ladies of the Social Twelve Card club at her home next Thursday Thurs-day evening. All members are asked ask-ed to be present. In compliment to Mrs. Ardilla Perry, who recently resigned as teacher of the Seagull class in the Mapleton ward Primary, the members mem-bers of the class entertained at a party at her home Friday evening. The affair was given in the form of a surprise. A number of interesting inter-esting games were featured, after which a delicious lunch was served to the following guests present: Miss Delia Cornesecca, Miss Naomi Tew, Miss Hattie Lee, Miss Delia Houtz, Misses Dora and Cora Har-mer, Har-mer, Misses Phylis and Leah , Perry, Per-ry, Miss Mae Johnson, Miss May Johnson, Miss Ferl Neilson, Miss Beryl Whitney. j MAPLETON '! ' NEWS ITEMS - V The students and faculty of the Mapleton school enjoyed an exceptional excep-tional program Friday afternoon in the school house, given by the sixth grade with Delmar Whitney in charge. The following numbers were given: Ukelcle selections, Muriel Jensen; piano numbers, Max Mendenhall; readings, Wilma Whiting. Whit-ing. Helen Anderson, Delia Houtz, and Naomi Harmer ; song, Lawrence Law-rence Bird, Ted Snow, Earl Mendenhall Men-denhall and Frank Carmesecca; song, fifth and sixth grade girls; dialogue, Harley Whiting, Delmar Whitney, Max Mendenhall; song, fifth and sixth grades. Ronald Whiting is spending the week in Logan at the Agricultural College, with which school he is taking a correspondence course. A large crowd enjoyed the splendid splen-did M. I. A. play Thursday evening in the amusement hall. The pro-t pro-t duction, "Kleptomania," was under j the direction of Harvey Mendenhall. Menden-hall. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nielson of Provo visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Whiting Sunday afternoon. I The junior and Gleaner girls and' the "M" men of the M. I. A. enjoyed en-joyed a party Tuesday evening in the town hall. Games were played and a delicious luncheon was served serv-ed to those present. The Mutual, with President Elmer El-mer Bird presiding, furnished a lovely program Sunday night in the ward chapel. Numbers were as follows: fol-lows: Play by the Gleaner girls; song. Max Mendenhall and Elmo Jensen; clarinet trio, Rex Sutherland, Suther-land, Verl Whiting and Robert Huntington; talk on "Springtime and How It Applies to Youth," by Elmer Bird. A dance will be sponsored next Thursday evening by Vance Givid-en. Givid-en. The Murdock orchestra has been engaged and a large crowd is expected. The feature in connection with the picture show Saturday night was "Happy Holley's Country Store." A large number of townspeople towns-people were fortunate in securing Mrs. Anthon Neilson is spending a few days in Springville with her son, J. C. Neilson and family. Primary conference was held in the Mapleton ward chapel Sunday evening before a large and appreciative appre-ciative audience. Mrs. Alga Mack-ley, Mack-ley, president, was in charge. A splendid program in which each class of the organization took, part, was given. Short talks were given by each of the following visitors: Mrs. Julia Packard, president of the stake board; C. R. Jones of the stake presidency, Bishop R. L. Mendenhall, and Willis K. Johnson John-son of the stake board. The Sunday school of the Mapleton Maple-ton ward is sponsoring a dance to be given in the , amusement hall Thursday evening. A good tiriie is promised all who attend. Music will be by Murdock's orchestra. The dramatic society of the Lake Shore M. I. A. gave their annual entertainment before a large and appreciative audience in the amusement amuse-ment hall Wednesday evening. The Mapleton ward M. I. A. will present their annual play in Lake Shore Thursday evening. Toothbrushes and handkerchiefs have figured among the tokens of valor presented by Chinese generals to the troops under their command. |
