No clue to the fire has hoen found, according to officials who made an investigation, investiga-tion, although it is believed that small lMys and matches may be responsible. The old tithing house barn 0: Maplcton, now belonging to o.lbn 1 Holley, broke out in fire between G and 7 o'clock Thursday evening. The fire department from Spring-ville Spring-ville responded but before it arrived the barn and contents had been destroyed de-stroyed by the flimos. The barn was filled with baled hay. A large stack of hay on the side of the barn was also eaten by the fire. . Mr Holley estimates his loss at about $!W0 of which about !00 is said to he covered by insurance. It is believed that the fire started start-ed in some weeds close to the barn from where it spread into the haled hay piled in the barn. . The fire department had no sooner soon-er arrived at the fire station from the H'olfey fife than rthe rjarm was sounded again. This barn contained some baled hoy and an automobile. The fire department succeeded in keeping keep-ing the flames away. Throughout the night igilance was kept by home owners near the fire.. Burning cinders "roni the Averett barn were, carried more than three blocks rfay, many of which lighted on the roofy of other buildings. The damage to the Averett pi nee are estimated at about $1,200, while Mr. Strong estimates his loss at approximately $o00. It is believed by the officials thnt the fire started in a board fence behind the Averett barn and that it spread from the fence into the hay in the barn. |
