Show Forest Service to build new fire station The U. S. Forest Service will begin construction of a fire station at the mouth of Rock Canyon in Provo this week, according to Forest Supervisor, Su-pervisor, Clarence S. Thornock. The 40x104 foot building will house two fire trucks and specialized fire tools and supplies sup-plies for fighting wild fire along the Wasatch Front. Space in the building is being developed for a carpenter-sign shop and supply storage. The five acre tract will be fenced with chain link and a modern heliport for operation of helicopters heli-copters will be contsructed within the enclosure. The project is being financed under the ACCELERATED PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM, designed to help speed up ,the State, local and Federal public pub-lic works projects that would help to provide immediate, useful work for the unemployed. |
