Hontz reunion The Houtz family reunion will be held Saturday, April 6, in the Harward Ward, 1021 So. 2nd East, Salt Lake City, be-ginning at 12:30 noon. All are asked to bring own box lunch. DUP convention The National Society of DUP will hold a convention in Salt Lake City, April 6, be-ginning at 9:15 a.m., at La-fayette Ballroom, Hotel Utah. Luncheon will be at noon at Empire Room. A tour of Ken-neco- tt Copper is planned at 2:15 p.m. Evening sessions will be at the Utah Motor Lodge. Election of officers and spec-ial talks will feature, the meet-ings. Companions club Members of the Companions club will make a tour of the Art Gallery this evening at 7:30 p.m., for their regular meeting and will gather at the home of Mrs. Grant Clyde later for business and refresh-ments. Forest Service to build new fire station The U. S. Forest Service will begin construction of a fire station at the mouth of Rock Canyon in Provo this week, according to Forest Su-pervisor, Clarence S. Thornock. The 40x104 foot building will house two fire trucks and specialized fire tools and sup-plies for fighting wild fire along the Wasatch Front. Space in the building is being developed for a carpenter-sig- n shop and supply storage. The five acre tract will be fenced with chain link and a modern heliport for operation of heli-copters will be contsructed within the enclosure. The project is being financed under the ACCELERATED PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM, designed to help speed up ,the State, local and Federal pub-lic works projects that would help to provide immediate, useful work for the unem-ployed. Allman, seaman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell L. Allman of 363 South 2nd East, Spring-ville, is serving aboard the Seventh Fleet aircraft carrier USS Ranger, which arrived in Yokosuka, Japan, last month, for a two-wee- k stay in port. Now on her fourth Western Pacific cruise, the Ranger has visited ports in Japan and the Philippines since leaving Ala-meda, Calif., her homeport, in November 1962. T. C. Gavin over basic training T. C, Gavin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton L. Gavin of 970 So. 600 E., Springville, has completed nine weeks of basic recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Can Diego, California, with graduation cermonies held March 8. The indoctrination to Navy life consists of physical fitness drills, military drills, seaman-ship, basic military law, .cus-toms and etiquette of the na-val service, swimming and sur-vival, and first aid. During the training, recruits receive tests and interviews which determine future train-ing and assignments in the Navy.
