Show Plans complete for gladioli show Friday Townspeople are reminded of the Amateur Gladioli show to be held Friday August 10, in the lobby of the Springville Bank, sponsored by the Art City Garden Club. Entries must be in between 8 and 9 a.m., for judging from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The public may view the show from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Cash prizes will be given by the bank in the small, medium and large classifications; for three of a- kind and for, the best arrangement. Entries must be cut 16 to 18 inches below the bottom flower. Containers Con-tainers will be furnished by the bank. Mrs. Shirley Nielson, president presi-dent of the garden club said that she and other officers are anxious that everyone who has gladioli of any kind, enters their flowers. Even if their flowers do not qualify for a prize, a larger display makes for a better show for the public pub-lic to view. Garden tour The Garden Club sponsored a successful tour of several outstanding gradens throughout through-out the city Wednesday evening even-ing of last week with approx-1 imately 30 participating. Gardens were visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Owen D. Christensen, 1201 East Center, which featured informal planting; plant-ing; the J. Howard Broderick residence at 940 East 100 So., and the George Puckett home, 940 East Hillcrest, both of which are comparatively new; the F. C. Packard garden, 303 North Second West and the Laron S. Andrus garden, 341 North Second West, which emphasized em-phasized the beauty and importance im-portance of long range landscaping land-scaping and the Frank Lara-,bee Lara-,bee yard and garden, 330 No. Seventh East, which featured considerable creative work including in-cluding a large fireplace across from which was a natural-looking natural-looking water fall. . |
