Show Public invited to see art by councilmen Two very busy men, both members of the city council, have found time not only to follow an interesting hobby of painting but to take time to hang their pictures at the invitation in-vitation of art-minded people of the city in the monthly exhibits ex-hibits at the city hall. The two exhibitors are Omar Hansen, city councilman and principal of the high school and Calvin Packard council member, cashier at the Springville bank and bishop of the third ward. Their pictures will be on display in the council room of the city hall for a month from now until Sept. 15, as part of a project in which amateur artists are asked to exhibit their work, to stimulate interest inter-est in art within the city. There has been some excellent excel-lent work exhibited, according to many visitors and citizens who have not taken the time and a few extra steps, while paying their bills at the city hall, to see the exhibit, are missing something worthwhile many have remarked. Both Mr. Packard and Mr. Hansen paint for the relaxation relaxa-tion and sheer enjoyment of the thing, it has been reported and both have produced some excellent pieces, according to critics. Mr. Hansen has taken lessons les-sons from Glen Turner, Francis Fran-cis Magleby and Franz Johan-sen Johan-sen and Mr. Packard has taken tak-en from Mr. Turner, Paul Salisbury Sal-isbury and others. They expect to have approximately ap-proximately 15 paintings on exhibit. . |
