Show Special class available in Nebo district The special education service ser-vice in the Nebo School District Dist-rict has been expanded and now includes a class for edu-cable edu-cable children on the high school level. The new class will be held in the new Spanish Fork High School and will serve children from the entire District. In addition to the program for educable children, the District has also initiated a new type of program for the hard of hearing children. This new type of program provides special education through the additional help of an itinerant resource teacher for hearing impaired children whose impairment im-pairment provents them from developing their potentialities satisfactorily in a regular academic aca-demic program, but whp are not impaired severe enough to require a program designed for deaf children. Previously, these children were provided with special instruction in lip reading read-ing and auditory training by the Speech and Hearing Therapists. Thera-pists. There are still additional classroom units that have been approved by the State Department Depart-ment of Public Instruction that have not been organized because be-cause of the last of trained personnel to fill the teaching assignments. If the additional teachers are located, plans have been made to include a program for mentally defective children. Many of these retarded children chil-dren have been identified within with-in the District, but no classes have been organized for them up to the present time because of the teacher shortage.
