One phamphlet notes that crandpa didn't have to know half as much as his grandson; that it is more important that young Joe knows more, if democracy is to survive in the world today. Pointing out how young Joe gets his education today, the phamphlet on Library Week says from his parents, his teachers, friends and his neighbors boss, his club and from mass media-suc- h as TV, radio and for information unlimited, the library is unsurpassed. You may get a library card free of charge and with it you may make a million; get the right answers to most prob-lems; travel, read drama, mys-tery, romance, adventure, and sports. One may get a college edu-cation or attain peace of mind by taking advantage of that which the library offers. An official made a state-ment that if one reads 1000 books in a lifetime, it is equal to going through college five times; making one an author-ity on some subject or it is equal to taking a trip around the world. The pamphlets distributed for Library Week stress the importance of knowing the li-brary making use of the recorded expeience of others through the reading of boks. it v ' .i r v ; " $ ..1 , x : i I Clyde Lundell, left, and Alma Jensen, SHS science teach-ers have been awarded National Science Foundation schol-arships for science study during the summer months.
