Show Sage Creek Wins Dist. Three Tourney Again Sage Creek's WBBA baseball team won the Springville tournament again this year, defeating defeat-ing their home rivals, Hobble Creek all-stars Third day, for fourth and' sixth places: Spanish Fork American Am-erican 3, Wasatch Americans 13; for third and fifth place: Spanish Fork Nationals 13, Wasatch Nationals 8; for first and second: Hobble Creek 1, Sage Creek 7. 7-1 and played the Helper team Wed. afternoon at Riverton. The winner of this game will enter the Tooele tournament beginning Aug. 19. Roger Reed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reed, was the big star in the championship game when he pitched near flawless ball to give his team a 7-1 victory. Roger struck out 18 batters and held the Hobble Creekers scoreless until the sixth inning. These same teams played for the title last year and came out in first and second sec-ond place. Members of the team include Billy Orr, Ronnie Lowe, Ronnie Ron-nie Knight, Jerry Warren, Gordon Gor-don Peterson, Boyd Van Patten, Pat-ten, Carl Conrad, ' Assistant manager; Mike Shepherd, Doug Allen, Ned Gavin, Mark Fitzgerald, Fitz-gerald, Ron Bird, Steve Jackson, Jack-son, Roger Reid, Ricky Witney and Luke Orr and Marvin Warren War-ren coaches. The learn was feted fet-ed at Riverton Monday night along with other clubs playing in the Riverton playoff meet. Results of the tourney by the day is as follows: (first day): Spanish Fork Nationals 8, Spanish Fork Pioneers, 2; Hobble Hob-ble Creek 9, Wasatch Americans Ameri-cans 1; Sage Creek 6, Spanish Fork American 5; Wasatch Nationals Na-tionals 14, Mapleton 5. Second day: Spanish Fork American 12, Mapleton 1; Sp. Fork Pioneers 6, Wasatch American Am-erican 17; Sage Creek 3, Wasatch Was-atch Americans 1; Hobble Creek 11, Wasatch Nationals 2. |
