Show HER IDEA OF A BARGAIN. Whole Case of Consumption Cure for Nineteen Cents. There is a little woman whose bargain-hunting instincts are so highly developed de-veloped that she couldn't pass a marked down sale without going in any more than a child could pass a human hu-man Santa Clans without stopping to ; watch his antics. Every time she buys anything she doesn't want, and brings it home to her stricken husband she declares that it was "just like picking pick-ing up ten dollars." Last week she came home with a bottle of patent medicine. "What is it?" asked her husband, resignedly. He knows it is always better to ask "What is it?" "Consumption cure!" she announced triumphantly, holding up the bottle to the light. "Isn't it a pretty color?" "lut who the. devil's got consumption consump-tion around here?" asked the husband, brutally. The wife opened her eyes. "Why, James," she remarked coldly, "I'm surprised at you! It was just like picking up hundreds of dollars. It just cost 19 cents! A whole case of consumption -cure for 19 cents! Aren't you broad-minded enough to see the bargain." And hugging the consumption cure close to her heart as though It were au abused poodle she fluffed out of the room. New York Press. |
