Show "Six years of Republican power has demonstrated that the trusts have nothing to fear from the Republican Re-publican party, because the Republican Repub-lican party is owned by the trusts. Why not say that no industry that can ship goods to Europe and there sell them cheaper than they are sold in America, where they are manufactured, shall longer be protected pro-tected by tariff legislation? Why longer tax the people by making them pay two prices to the monopolists mo-nopolists that have, according to Republican admission, grown stronger than the law? The people are beginning to suspect that therein there-in lies a remedy. Even Republicans are beginning to insist that these giant concerns should no longer have special privileges. The Republicans Re-publicans of Iowa and Idaho have declared that the trusts should no longer receive the benefits of the tariff laws, and the sentiment is growino- that the Democratic rem-edy rem-edy is plain, speedy and adequate. The Democracy says: 'Repeal these provisions of the protective tariff laws which give to the combines com-bines their tremendous power.' " O. W. Powers, at Democratic State convention. |
